Our partners in Singapore – YMCA – and the Strathclyde MBA Alumni group recently held a joint networking event. The evening dinner on Monday 23 November was a chance for the Singapore Strathclyde MBA community, both alumni and current students, to come together before attending a talk by Dr Wilson Chew, a Strathclyde MBA alumnus who is Group Principal Consultant & CEO at specialist consulting firm StrategiCom – The B2B Branding Specialist.
Highlighted by The Edge weekly as a “thought leader” in the field of brand strategy, Dr Chew was awarded the Asia Brand Leadership Award in 2008 for his outstanding contribution to the applied knowledge of brand strategy. He co-authored 3 sell-out books:
- Transforming Your Business into A Brand – The 10 Rules of Branding (2007)
- Killer Differentiators – 13 Strategies to Grow Your Brand (2008)
- B2B – 10 Rules to Transform Your Business into A Brand (2012)
He is a business strategist specialising in corporate and brand strategy. His clients include Cotmac (India), Frasers (Singapore), InfoTech (UAE), Oberthur (France), OpenAxces (Switzerland), Pan Asia Logistics (Germany) and PT Triputra Group (Indonesia) among many other major corporations.
During the talk on “NEW BUSINESS MODELS FOR NEW REALITIES” Dr Chew expounded on how the economic development of countries worldwide, has transformed tremendously. Successful companies of the past may not continue to be successful in view of continual disruptive drivers in the changing marketplace. Disruptive innovations have brought about new market norms. The future of companies depends in its ability to be innovative and that is why businesses must go beyond the push for greater productivity into the realms of value creation.
Alumni and students thoroughly enjoyed and benefited from the stimulating and lively talk by Dr Chew and had an enjoyable evening exchanging views and ideas with him and their MBA colleagues.
